 my husband may have to give up work to look after me and the two children what can i do next as i have no idea od the ststem or how it works help would be very much needed thanks

Hi Cazza,
You can claim ESA (what used to be Incapacity Benefit) if you are unable to work, and probably DLA as well. If your husband has to give up work to care for you, he should qualify for Carer's Allowance.
Your best bet is to contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau ... they will go through your personal circumstances and give you a list of all benefits you are entitled to as well as assistance in filling out some of the forms or numbers of who to contact.
Good luck with it ... sometimes it can be a rather tedious process but see it through to the end to make sure you're getting what you should.

Depending upon your circumstances, you could qualify for free care. Self-directed support or SDS for short, can include housework, ironing, shopping etc. as well as personal care. Good luck! Carol

I get this care thing from our SS. It pays me direct payments and I employ 3 different people now to help me out with me and with Bernice. "helping me to be an independent mum" basically.
Works brilliantly.
Richard has had to cut down his hours and change them to being more 8-6 but this is better than shifts.
there is income support and also SS can send an occupational therapist to talk about having adaptations done to your home.
For a while I had a helper dog. he came from canine partners.
I see my friend who trained with me (kate) , is on the front of their website!
